Duck’s Folly

It’s not often I find myself wanting to quote the label off a beer bottle – certainly not when it’s the first one of the evening. But Goddard’s Duck’s Folly describes itself as “Full and round, rather like Anthony Goddard”. Since he was a Lloyd’s insurance underwriter who was financially “stuffed” in the 1990′s … “it’s an anagram, and we’ll leave it to you to work it out….”
It also describes which food to serve it with (any robust dish goes better with beer than wine), and notes that “a high erlevel of alcohol lends a softer mouth-feel and provides that ‘iron fist in a velvet glove” robustness.
