Dakar Fixing

Well, I’d planned to spend Saturday doing some routine maintenance on the Dakar, and perhaps having another go at fitting the winch. Well, it didn’t quite go to plan, as evidenced by me outside at 7:30pm last night fitting the former passenger’s seat as a new drivers’s seat. The driver’s seat is now in the garage awaiting repair and installation as a new passenger’s seat.

Trust me, it was the easiest way. Replacing the seats involved an awful lot of nuts and bolts where you couldn’t reach both ends – one inside the car, one outside. I’d like to thank my wife for her assistance in reaching some of them.

Outstanding list of jobs to do:

  • Finish seat repair
  • Replace wing mirrors (parts on order).
  • Fix windscreen washers (need to diagnose problem).
  • Replace coolant reservoir cap to stop leaks.
  • Check timing and MAF sensor to resolve low power at speed.

There’s probably a few more. Some of these need to be done in time for the next MOT test, due on 21st May. So I need to get my finger out!
