So, is a blog the “pet rock” of the 21st century?

I remember someone asking if the personal homepage was the new pet rock – a waste of space that you were proud of and everyone else thought was stupid?

I think a lot of blogs are just that – written more for the author’s pleasure than for it’s (small) audience. But there are some outstanding ones out there: highly focussed on a specific topic, or just plain interesting because the author has something to say. I’m hoping this will fall into the latter category, and have some references to my interests and hobbies.

I work in the IT field; while I’ll talk about relevant IT stuff here, it’s not the main purpose of the blog. But if there’s something major going on in the IT world, I’ll try to mention it here.

My main out of work interest is Land Rovers and off-road driving. I’m in the market for a Dakar Kit car based on a Range Rover chassis, as well as my existing P38A Range Rover.

I’m also an active member of the Association of British Drivers, and a supporter of GLASS.
